Leonard William Schumacher

Leonard William Schumacher, 93, of Red Wing, died Saturday, December 15, 2007, at the Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. He was born on January 26, 1914, in Wabasha County to Fred and Sara (Witt) Schumacher. On August 30, 1941, he was married to Dorothy Erickson and they lived in Red Wing. He was employed at Pittsburgh Plate and Glass and ADM for many years, retiring in 1976. Dorothy died on November 21, 1985. A member of the Red Wing Wildlife League he was an avid fisherman and hunter. His family also remembers him for the many games of solitaire he would play, digging for night crawlers and picking weeds.

Survivors include two sons; Keith Schumacher and Don (Cathy) Schumacher all of Red Wing; two grandchildren, Amy (Brock) McCarthy and Alex Nelson; two great grandchildren, Ariel and Tristen McCarthy; one sister, Isabelle Lane of Arizona and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, one brother and two sisters.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2007, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with the Rev. Mark Kalb officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith and Don Schumacher, Brock McCarthy, Rolland and Bruce Nadeau and Gary Whitmore. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the Environmental Learning Center.
