OBITUARY: Leona A. Stiller
Funeral services for Leona A. Stiller will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Erich Westphal officiating. Music will be provided by Marla Tupper, organist, with congregational singing. Casketbearers will be her grandchildren: Jeff Loken, Holli Gudknecht, April Forss, Ross Loken, Debbie Hinrichs, Brad Stiller, Angie DeBettignies and Crissy Loberg. Burial will follow in the Zumbrota Cemetery.
Leona, age 92, of Zumbrota died on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Zumbrota Nursing Home. She was born Leona Augusta Post on September 4, 1915, in Zumbrota Township, Goodhue County, Minnesota to August and Cora (Heydman) Post. She attended country school and on June 4, 1948 she married Rudy Joseph Stiller at Grace Lutheran Church, rural Goodhue County. Following their marriage, the couple farmed 22 years around Zumbrota Township, Goodhue County. They retired from farming in 1966 and remained on the farm and in Zumbrota Township for another 42 years. Leona worked for Snyder Drug Store in Zumbrota for 26 years. Rudy died on January 12, 1997 and Leona moved into Zumbrota in July 2007. She was a member at Christ Lutheran Church and was actively involved with the ladies aid for many years. Visiting over coffee with friends and spending time with family were her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed playing cards while socializing.
Leona is survived by one son, Dale (Margaret) Stiller, of Zumbrota, MN; two daughters: Marlys (Richard) Loken, of Wanamingo, MN and Linda (Dean) Nelson, of Rosemount, MN; eight grandchildren: Debbie (Keith) Hinrichs, Brad (Tricia) Stiller, Jeff Loken, Holli (Brian) Gudknecht, April (Ken) Forss, Ross Loken, Angie (John) DeBettignies and Crissy (Chris) Loberg; twenty great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy, and her parents, August and Cora.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Monday, February 11, 2008 at Mahn Family Funeral Home Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour preceding services at the church on Tuesday.
