Leon "Bud" Mullenbach

Leon "Bud" Paul Mullenbach, 89, of Red Wing, passed away September 12, 2019, in Eagan. Born August 1, 1930, to Paul and Mary (Juenger) Mullenbach, he grew up in Johnsburg, MN on a farm with his family. He married Jonnetta "Johnnie" St. George on July 14, 1953. Bud is a veteran of the Korean War era and spent his time in the service stationed in Germany and Goose Bay Labrador. After returning from the service, he raised his family of 4 children in the Stewartville, MN area where they lived for 17 years. He worked for Waters Conley in Rochester for many years, Red Wing Industries in Red Wing and retired as a purchasing agent from Waters Instruments in Rochester. In 1973 they moved to Red Wing, where he was working at the time, and remained there until he moved into a facility in Eagan that provided his care for the last two years. Bud enjoyed working in his garage on the many projects that he had. He loved snowmobiling and was out riding the trails at age 82. He was a founding member of the Stewartville Snowmobile Club and he volunteered many years in Stewartville and Red Wing grooming trails. He also was handy with a wrench and could fix almost anything. He loved working on cars and spent many hours with his boys fixing them. Bud enjoyed wood working and at age 72, joined in building the family cabin. Most of all Bud loved spending time with his family.
Bud's family includes his wife, Johnnetta (St.George), children, Steven (Nancy) Mullenbach, Donna (Bob) Richardson, Dora (Randy) Lexvold and Marty who passed away July 2011. He has five grandchildren Nichole (Matt) Kirchoff, Jessie Lexvold, Blake (Amy) Mullenbach, Sarah (Dusty) Janovsky, and Jacob (Ashley) Mullenbach and eleven great grandchildren and his sister in-law Dorothy Mullenbach (Nathan's wife). He had many nieces and nephews that he cared deeply about. He was preceded in death by his son, Marty; parents; four brothers Erwin (Johanna), Roman (Helen), Edmund (Dorothy), and Nathan Mullenbach and two sisters, Bernice (Melvin) Reding and Beatrice (William) Krebsbach; sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Earl Cain.
Mass of the resurrection will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2019 at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery with military honors by Leo C. Peterson American Legion #54. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing, with a Legion Prayer Service at 7pm.
