Lenora K. Jonas age 95 of Rochester, formerly of Wanamingo died on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Madonna Towers Nursing Home in Rochester. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Erich Westphal officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lenora Katharina Buchholtz was born on August 9, 1912 in Goodhue, MN to J. Henry and Marie J. (nee Banidt) Buchholtz. She grew up in Goodhue and graduated from Goodhue High School in 1930. On October 22, 1938 she married Arthur Jonas in Goodhue. They made their home in Cherry Grove Township, where they farmed for almost sixty-six years. In October of 2004, Lenora moved to Rochester. Lenora was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, a former member of the Rochester Methodist Hospital Auxiliary and enjoyed gardening and word puzzles.
Lenora is survived by one daughter, Doris Jonas (Gary) Hansen, one son, Neil (Sharon) Jonas of Wanamingo, one granddaughter, Joliene H. (Jack W.) Stewart of Olathe, KS, four step-granddaughters, Tina (Lee Jay) Small of St. Charles, Brenda (Andre) Irving of Plymouth, Lisa (Gene) Spitzer of St. Charles, and Laura Ploetz of Elma, IA, one step-grandson, Tim (Brenda) Ploetz of Eagan, one great grandson, Jackson Stewart of Olathe, KS, one great granddaughter, Jyllian Marie Stewart of Olathe, KS, nine step great grandsons, Charles, Daniel, Jacob and Philip Smith of Lewiston, Clint Spitzer of St. Charles, William, Andrew, Darius and Davon Irving, of Plymouth, six step great granddaughters, Christine Smith of Lewiston, Zoe Spitzer of St. Charles, Nicole and Molly Ploetz, both of Eagan, Morgan and Madison Small both of St. Charles, and one brother, Walter Buchholtz of Goodhue. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, her parents and one sister, Margaret Johnson. The family suggests memorials to Christ Lutheran Church or Madonna Meadows. Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home ? Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.
