Leland "Skit" Goyer

Leland "Skit" Conley Goyer, age 83, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at Ebenezer at Red Wing. He was born on July 14, 1924, in White Rock, to Louis and Olga (Anderson) Goyer. He was a 1942 graduate of Red Wing High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II where he graduated from Army Air Force Pilot School at Luke Field, AZ on December 23, 1944. He continued to serve in the Army Reserves from which he retired. He married Lucille Dahlstrom on August 10, 1951, in Red Wing. She died on February 28, 1997. He worked for Farley and Schafer Plumbing and Heating in Red Wing. In 1961, he established Goyer Plumbing and Heating which he owned and operated for many years. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Aurora Ski Club and Soaring Gliders Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and outdoor activities.

Survivors include three children, Gayla (Steve) Hallquist of Coon Rapids, Cindy (Mike) Hennessey of Moorhead, and Terry Goyer of Red Wing; three grandchildren, Danae Hennessey, Susan and Sara Hallquist; one half-brother, Walter "Billy" Westerson of Cannon Falls; nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his wife; one brother, Warren "Tim"; one sister, Phyllis Montey; and half-sister, Bonnie Westerson.

Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Father Charles Uhlik officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Wacouta Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Fairview Red Wing Hospice or American Cancer Society.
