Leland Wendell Bremer

Leland W. "Lee" Bremer, 91, of Rochester, died Monday (Dec. 9, 2013) at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Leland Wendell Bremer was born Sept. 15, 1922 to Emil and Emma (Evenson) Bremer, on the family farm near Glenville, MN. He attended Glenville High School. Lee served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. On Dec. 2, 1950 he married Mildred M. "Milli" Otto in Mankato. The couple lived in Southern Minnesota and the Twin Cities before moving to Rochester in 1968. Lee worked in various agricultural related industries including Midwest Breeders, retiring from there in 1984. He was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, enjoyed traveling, music, and reading, and was an avid outdoorsman and conservationist. His kindness, sense of humor, and quiet strength were obvious to family and caregivers even in his final days.
Lee is survived by his son, John (Cynthia) Bremer of Moorhead, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife Milli who died Nov. 28, 2012. He was preceded in death by brothers, Hank, Everett, and Larry, and sisters, Lila, Agnes, and Evelyn.
The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Heining officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Private inurnment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
