Leigh D. Hoisington

Leigh Donald Hoisington, age 57 of Red Wing, died Sunday, November 2, 2008 at his home. He was born February 25, 1951 in Red Wing, the son of Donald and Helen (Anderson) Hoisington and graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1969. He married Elaine Marian Nygren on October 11, 1975. He worked at Fortier Typewriter, S. B. Foot Tannery, Red Wing Service Company and at Red Wing Central High School as a janitor. He began his own cleaning business in 1979 and later worked for Neufeldt Welding, Joe's Mobile, and for the last 15 years has worked at Hearth and Home Technologies. He was a member of Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, Minnesota Street Rod Association and was a past member of the Bearing Burner. He enjoyed gardening, old cars, '50's music, hunting, fishing, movies barbequing, feeding the humming birds and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Red Wing; three daughters, Katie (Andrew) Stockwell of Griswold, Conn., Shelby (Rex) Miller of Red Wing and Claire Hoisington of Red Wing; two grandchildren: Aiden Miller and Kaylin Stockwell; his parents of Red Wing; three siblings: Sheri (Jerry) Humphrey of Red Wing, Scott (Tamara) Hoisington of Andover, MN and Candace Ross of Vero Beach, FL; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Christ Episcopal Church with Father Charles Uhlik officiating. Burial 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10 at the Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Red Wing Area Food Shelf or the Universal Playground.
