Lawrence ?Lars? Julius Larson, 74, of Red Wing, died Friday, December 22, 2006 at the Fairview Seminary Home. He was born December 19, 1932 in Hager City, Wisconsin to Lawrence A. and Ethel (Dahl) Larson. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1951 and attended two years at the University of Minnesota. He joined the Army in March of 1953 and served until being honorable discharged in March of 1955. He worked at S.B. Foot Tanning Co. for several years. He married Suzanne Knorth August 15, 1964. Lawrence owned an operated L & J Shoe Repair and Western Shop for 35 years. Suzanne died in August of 1979. On February 15, 1983 he married Janice (Hallquist) Brunkhorst in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, American Legion Leo C. Peterson #54, Blue Lodge #8, LaGrange Chapter #4 Royal Arch Masons, Tyrian Council #4, Commandary #10 Knights Templar, Zuhrah Shrine, Red Wing Collectors Society, UCT, Roundy Club, and the State Climatology Office Weather Observer for 35 years. He enjoyed NASCAR and Vikings football of which he was a charter member ticket holder for. He is survived by his wife, Jan of Red Wing; two children, Jill (Mark) Ranft of Inver Grove Heights and James (Julie) Brunkhorst of Red Wing; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Katherine Ranft, Demi and Michael Brunkhorst; one sister, Marilyn (Harry) Williams of Peoria, Arizona; one nephew, Todd (Shari) Flemming of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his first wife Suzanne and infant twin daughters.Funeral service will be 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Carroll Marohl officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are Dean Massett, Ken Helmer, Dan Gray, Jerry Mewhorter, Walt Hinsch, and John Thimijan. Honorary Pallbearers are Elizabeth Ranft, Katherine Ranft, Demi Brunkhorst, and Michael Brunkhorst. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with Masonic Service at 7 p.m., and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
