Lawrence Geise

Lawrence "Larry" Conrad Geise Jr., age 78, passed away on Monday January 13th at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. He was born on May 25, 1946 to Lawrence and Fae (Goodrich) Geise. Larry grew up on a farm in rural Pine Island. He attended school in West Concord. Larry and Marie Reber were married on September 27, 1964. They had two children and were later divorced.

Over the years Larry worked for Alberts Brothers, Oronoco Auto Parts, and other jobs as well as farming on his own.

Larry was a quiet man who enjoyed life's simple pleasures... animals (especially horses and dogs), cars, the outdoors, fishing, family and friends. In his younger days he was a member of the Island Riders Saddle Club and enjoyed watching horse pulls. He enjoyed working on cars and competing in demolition derbies. Larry patiently taught his grandchildren how to fish but had to remind them not to yell so loud whey they caught a fish and to hold onto the pole.

Larry will be missed by his children Jamie (Mary) Geise of Pine Island and Twylla (Jeff) Vetsch of Waseca; grandchildren Kaitlin (Derick) Zellar of Mankato and Jack Vetsch and Jack's special friend Brooke Hanson, both of Lenexa, Kansas. He will also be missed by his faithful dog Queeny. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Melvin, and sisters Evelyn DeVrendt and Shirley Dickinson.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 24th from 1:00 - 4:00 PM at the Pine Island American Legion. Please come and share stories with his friends and family on his birthday weekend.
