LaVonne Wold age 81 of Lake City passed away April 15, 2008 at the Lake City Nursing Home.
LaVonne was born June 28, 1926 in Harmony, Minnesota to Martin & Alma (Osthrhus) Bjortomt. She graduated from Harmony High School in 1944. After she graduated she worked as a proofreader for Moore Business Forms. LaVonne married Stanley Wold July 26, 1947 in Preston, MN. They owned and operated Lake City Appliance in Lake City from 1959 to 1985. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lake City. She was very involved in many church groups and she served as Assistant Leader of Campfire Girls for many years, she was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and she served on the Water Ski Days committee for many years. She enjoyed golfing, traveling and quilting.
LaVonne is survived by her husband Stanley; one daughter, Charlyne (Brad) Foss of Brooklyn Park, MN; a son, Duane (Jo Jean) Wold of Monticello, MN; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Verna Hahn of Zumbrota, Betty Lou (Donald) Riehl of Preston; a brother, Norman Bjortomt of Chatfield. She was preceded in death by a brother Rueben Bjortomt and a sister Ruth Sikkink.
A Memorial Service will be Monday, April 21, 2008 at First Lutheran Church in Lake City at 11:00 am with the Rev. Darren Paulson officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church.
