LaVonne Hoops

LaVonne C. Hoops age 87 of Lake City died Monday, December 11, 2006 at the Lake City Nursing Home. LaVonne was born August 6, 1919 in Douglas, MN to Amos & Caroline (Siems) Ondler. She graduated from Mazeppa High School in 1938. She then attended Secretarial School for a year. She married Chester Hoops November 21, 1940 at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Oronoco, MN. They farmed in the Oak Center area for 37 years. In 1977 they moved to Lake City. Chester died on May 28, 2002. LaVonne was a member of Lincoln Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid, and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She enjoyed knitting, tatting, and crocheting. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Mary) of Lake City, Larry (Diane) of Oak Center; one daughter, Kathleen (Paul) Vining of Waldorf, MD; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; one brother Fay (Beverly) Ondler of Rochester, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, twin sister Yvonne Heise, three brothers, Otis, James, and Amos Ondler. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 11:00 am at Lincoln Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Christian Christenson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church.
