LaVerne passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
LaVerne Hildegard Strauss was born June 19th, 1932 in Cato, Wisconsin to parents Simon Strauss; Mathilda (Schambureck) Strauss.
She attended country school and graduated from Valders High School in 1951. She married Myron Schettl on October 30, 1954 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Maple Grove, Wisconsin. They moved many times for Myron's work with IBM and settled in the Oronoco area in 1963, establishing a tree farm and sawmill business, "Shady Haven Tree Farms"
LaVerne is survived by her children, Andrea (AJ) (Keith) Maxson, Eric Schettl and daughter-in-law Rochel Schettl; grandchildren, Shalon, Aaron, Tabitha, Tony and Tyler Maxson, Erica Ness, Halie and Samantha Schettl; great grandchildren, Levi, Leah, Abigail, Maryeve, Samson, Josiah, Tobias, Isaiah Audra, Maximus, Aiden, Shealynn and Isabelle; sister, Shirley (Fred) Richmond.
LaVerne is preceded in death by her loving husband, Myron of 70 years; infant child, Theresa; son, Matthew; grandson, David Maxson; daughter-in-law, Tammy; sisters, Lorraine Erdman, Rita Maule and Evelyn Kummar.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Pine Island with an hour of visitation prior.
Interment will follow the service at Pine Island Cemetery.
