LaVerne William Hanson

LaVerne W. Hanson, 86, died on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester after a battle with cancer. LaVerne was born on July 7, 1930 to Milton and Mabel Hanson. He attended Oak Center School and then helped his mother on the family farm after his father passed away. He worked at Swift & Co. in South St. Paul for a short time. He married Norma Eidem on September 24, 1954. He went on to farm full time until he retired. He enjoyed spending time with his family; enjoyed taking trips out West; as well as hunting, fishing, gardening and flowers.

LaVerne is survived by his wife of 62 years, Norma; two daughters Cheryl (Bill) Tiffany and Vicki (Paul) Riegelman; grandchildren Brady (Jessie) Tiffany, Bryce Tiffany, Jesse (Katie) Riegelman, Spencer Riegelman, Amber (Chris) Stewart and Cameron (Alyssa) Riegelman; great-grandchildren, Brantley Tiffany, Morgan Flaherty, Matthew and Michael Stewart; sisters, Dorothy (Melvin) Johnson, Gloria (Eldon) Myer; one brother, Marlan (Kathy) Hanson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Arlene Kline, Mary Potts, Vera Hanson and Loretta Hanson; and nephew, Gary Kline.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Eidsvold Lutheran Church with the Reverend Mike Knudson officiating. Burial at Eidsvold Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Memorials are preferred to the Eidsvold Cemetery.
