Lavern Eide

Lavern Dale Eide, 74, of Red Wing, died Saturday, February 27, 2010 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. He was born on June 7, 1935 in Tioga, North Dakota to Pete and Lydia Eide. He graduated from Tioga High School and then served in the US Army. He married Evelyn Schmidt on April 9, 1960. For a number of years he worked for NSP in Minot, North Dakota before being transferred to Red Wing in 1973. He was a member of the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post. Lavern enjoyed woodworking, working on cars, mowing lawns for other people and was an avid football and twins fan.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; two sons, Lee Eide of Red Wing and Mike (Ann) Thorson of Bismarck, North Dakota; five grandchildren; two sisters, Donna (Jerry) Marlow of Sedro Woolley, Wash. and Luella of California and one brother, Wilbur Eide of Williston, North Dakota. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Kermit, Arnold, Art and Don and one sister, Eileen Barkie.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at First Lutheran Church with Rev. David Jore officiating. Burial will be on the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
