Larry Peter Heitman

Larry Peter Heitman, age 69, of Lake City, passed away, surrounded by his family, Thursday, March 31, 2011, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Larry was born November 17, 1941 in Lake City to Emil and Marcella (Fick) Heitman. He was baptized on December 14, 1941 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. He grew up in Lake City and graduated from high school in 1959. He entered the Navy January 24, 1959 attending training during weekends in high school. He was honorably discharged from the service on January 27, 1962. He married Sharon Wondrasch on December 1, 1962 in Elgin, MN. The couple lived in Rochester for a short time until moving to Lake City. He worked at Crenlo for three years, then at the Oak Center Creamery, until buying a dairy farm where Sharon and he worked side by side until the late 90s. In 1986 he started working for Anderson Vet clinic part-time and continued working there until December 2010. Larry was a member of Lincoln Trinity Lutheran Church, Zumbro Falls Lion's Club, where he was the president and treasurer, board of director of Farmers Elevator now Ag Partners, and the Lake City American Legion Post #110. He enjoyed playing cards with his card club, having coffee with friends, gardening, antiquing, collecting tractors, feeding his hungry squirrels and attending sports involving his children and grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his wife, Sharon Heitman of Lake City; five sons, Douglas (Lori) of Lake City, Dale (Shannon) of Bricelyn, MN, Darrick (Angela) of Lake City, Dustin (Danielle) of Zumbrota, and Dana Heitman of Nashville, TN; eleven grandchildren, Melissa, Mandy, Melanie Heitman, Jessica(Jacob) Corson, Samantha, Taylor, Ethan, Seth, Cody, Caitlyn, and Conner Heitman; great-granddaughter, Gracie Corson; brother, Morris (Marlis) Heitman of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cedric and Donald Heitman.

Funeral Service will be 2p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Lincoln Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Tim Learman officiating. Burial will take place at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City with military honors provided by the Lake City American Legion Post #110. Visitation will take place 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 2 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
