LaDon Lucas, 81, of Rochester, died Wednesday June 6, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
LaDon Bradley was born April 2, 1931 in Yale, Oklahoma to Kenneth and Dimple (Farris) Bradley. She was raised in Oklahoma and Kansas, and married Donald Lucas in 1951 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The couple lived in California before moving to Manhattan, Kansas. They moved to Rochester in 1961 where Mr. Lucas was employed at IBM. LaDon was active in Girl Scouts, serving as a leader and on the board, and was active in youth bowling. The couple moved to Wabasha in 1981 where LaDon was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, was active in bowling and golf. She was a volunteer for the Adult DAC at Assisi Heights in Rochester, where she was active and served on the board, and later was active and served on the board of the Adult DAC in Wabasha. Mr. Lucas died on Dec. 4, 2005, and LaDon moved to Shorewood Place in Rochester in 2006. She loved, and enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and her great granddaughter.
Survivors include two daughters, Diana (Dana) Erickson of St. Anthony, MN; and Deidra "Dede" (David) Henslin of Rochester; her son, David of Rochester; seven grandchildren, Brian, Kyle, Kimberly, Michele, Kevin, Derek, and Austin; and her great granddaughter, Claire. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Michael, a sister, and a brother.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2:30 to 4:00 PM at Shorewood Place on Saturday June 16, 2012.
