Kora Eileen Knowlton

A funeral service for Kora Knowlton will be held Thursday September 19th at 1:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester. The Reverend William Otte will officiate. Burial, on Friday, will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Mrs. Knowlton, 92, of Rochester died Saturday September 14, 2013 at Cottagewood in Rochester.
Kora Eileen Anderson was born June 29, 1921 in Pine River, Minnesota, the daughter of Ole and Julia Anderson. Raised in North Iowa in the towns of Forest City and Lake Mills, she was a graduate of Lake Mills High School. Following graduation she moved to Minneapolis and enrolled at the Electronic Radio and Television Institute, and graduated as a licensed air traffic controller. On May 12, 1946 she married Willis ‘Pete' Knowlton in Rochester. The couple settled in Rochester, and Kora worked various jobs, including Sears and the Kahler Hotel. After raising her family she became a medical secretary at Mayo Clinic for more than 20 years.
Kora was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, church circle, Trinity's camping club and couples' club. She was a gifted seamstress and cook, and she enjoyed crafts. She loved her grandchildren and cooking for her family.
She is survived by her children, Jaci (Jerry) Lillie of Blooming Prairie, Corliss Tuttle of Minnetonka, Rich (Katie Piehl) Knowlton of Minneapolis, Jim (Darci) Knowlton of Inver Grove Heights, Suzi (Jeff) Burt of Blooming Prairie, and Julie (Kevin) Ellingson of Pine Island; 16 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is Jewell Potvin, a sister-in-law of Rochester.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Knowlton, in 2006, and her parents.
Friends may call from 11:30 AM until the time of the service on Thursday at the church.
