Kerry Jean Kruger

Kerry Jean Kruger, 68, died on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Potter's Ridge. Kerry was born November 12, 1948 in Osseo, Wisc. to Clifford and Irene (Back) Fjelstad. She grew up in Strum, Wis. and graduated in 1966 from Eleva-Strum High School. She married her high school sweetheart, David Kruger on December 23, 1966. While David was in the United States Army serving in Vietnam, she attended beauty school and then went on to work as a beautician. The couple made their home in the Strum area where they raised their three children. Kerry and Dave owned Dave's 66 Service Station. In 1982, they moved to Red Wing and Kerry worked for Goodhue County Social Services and the University of Minnesota extension office. She retired in 2010. After retirement, she worked as a paraprofessional at Twin Bluff Middle School, a job she truly loved. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She loved being a mother and grandmother and faithfully attended all of the sporting events of her children and grandchildren. Kerry instructed cooking and nutritional classes at the correctional facility in Red Wing and the Goodhue County jail. In her spare time, Kerry loved to shop and go to garage sales. She enjoyed collecting purses, rugs, getting her nails and hair done. Kerry will be remembered as a dedicated caregiver to her family and friends.

Kerry is survived by her husband, David; daughters Joy Kruger of Red Wing and Julie (Ray) Stone of Red Wing; son, Kory (Holly) Kruger; grandchildren Tanner Kruger, Ben Kruger, Zach Kruger and Allie Kruger; many cousins, other family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved dog, Bonzo.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Kristin Schlauderaff officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Mahn Family Funeral Home- Bodelson Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.
