Kermit Jerome Nauman

August 23, 1943 — March 25, 2017

Kermit Jerome Nauman, age 73, of Red Wing, died March 25, 2017 peacefully surrounded by family. He was born August 23, 1943 in Leroy, Minnesota to Edward and Lois Nauman. Kermit attended LeRoy-Ostrander Public Schools and graduated with an associate degree in engineering from Austin Technical College. He worked for Hormel as a project engineer for 17 years. Then his career path took him to the industrial refrigeration industry where he enjoyed doing projects for Conagra and Tyson, among others. His most exciting job was freezing the ground for a gold mine in Timmons, Canada.
When not working, Kermit's favorite place to be was outdoors hunting and fishing. His love of Labrador Retrievers extended to the Riverwalk kennel dog breeding and training for hunting and family companions. The quality of his Labradors include dogs that became drug & bomb inspectors, service dogs, and many were successful in hunting and field trail competitions.
Kermit is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jim Nauman; and cousin, Don Nauman. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his daughters, Robyn (Darren) Sonnenberg of Saint Cloud, Minnesota and Holly (Scott) Woodland of Fort Smith, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lorys Nauman; nephews, Brad and Jeff; niece Jann; Andrew, Steve, and Richard Dobrot and families; also Bonnie, beloved hunting buddy and Daisy, his house dog.
A celebration of Kermit's life will be Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 12-3 p.m. at The Bluffs in Hager City, WI. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that contribution may be made to the Red Wing Wildlife League or Duck's Unlimited; Can Do Canines in Memory of Kermit Nauman and Riverwalk Kennels.
