Kermit O. Haugen

Kermit O. Haugen, age 95, of Pine Island, died on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island. He was born on September 17, 1917, in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County, to Carl and Ida (Berg) Haugen. On June 25, 1949, he married Arline Lubahn at Stordahl Lutheran Church. They lived on the Haugen Farm, where Kermit farmed, until 1971 when they moved to Pine Island. Kermit also worked at Jackson Construction in Zumbrota, and at Apache Mall as a security guard. He enjoyed going to rummage sales, bicycle rides, gardening and tree trimming, gopher and mole trapping, and reading the newspaper. Kermit was a lifelong member of Stordahl Lutheran Church.

Kermit is survived by his son, Jerry (Lois) Haugen of Pine Island; grandchildren, Karla Haugen, Kevin (Christa) Haugen, Kirby (Jason Chilson), Kari (Brandon) Henderson; great-grandchildren, Chase and Chelsey Haugen, Zoey and Mya Haugen, Abby and Blake Henderson; and sisters, Charlotte Ronningen of Kenyon, Norma Lueck of Pine Island, Mildred Littleton of WI.

Kermit was preceded in death by his wife, Arline who died on February 3, 1998; and sisters, Agnes Sorkil, Idella Rude, Alice Ronningen.


Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Stordahl Lutheran Church with Pastor Kathleen Lowery officiating. Burial will be in Pine Island Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island, and for one hour prior to the services at the church. www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
