Kenneth H. Plank age 77 of Lake City passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the Lake City Nursing Home.
Kenneth was born June 9, 1933 in Wabasha to Herbert & Delores (Eastman) Plank. He lived in Wabasha until 1946. He attended country school in the Jacksonville area. Ken joined the Army and after his discharge he returned to the Jacksonville area. He helped on the family farm and also the Olson brothers, he also worked on the railroad for several years. Ken married Janis Duden August 6, 1961 in Wabasha. They lived in Lake City and he worked for Lake City Water Supply for 25 years. He started Plank and Sons Plumbing and retired in 1998. Janis passed away in 1992. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.
Ken is survived by two sons, Dale (Jill) Plank of Zumbrota, David Plank of Lake City; a daughter, Debra (Rick) West of Menomonie, WI; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; special friend Hazel Bernard; 8 sisters, Lois Beaham of Lake City, Nancy O'Flaherty, Elaine (Charlie) Halpaus of Lake City, Dorothy (Leo) Blattner of Lake City, Shirley Meincke, Sharon (Robert) Henning, Kathy Roberts of Lake City, Charlotte Plank of Northfield; six brothers, Raymond Plank, Eugene (Carol) Plank, John (Janet) Plank of Lake City, Francis Plank of Manorville, Jim Plank of Manorville, Ronnie (Sue) Plank of Northfield; sister in-law Marilyn Plank of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Wayne, daughter Shelly Plank, two sisters, Ellen Mae Plank, Virginia Henning and a brother, Marvin Plank.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 11:00 Am at First Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. David Barker officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery Lake City. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church.
