Kenneth V. Oliver (KØDEG), 91, of Lake City, Minnesota, passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at Wabasha Health Care Center. He was born on August 27, 1926 to Kenneth L. and Beatrice (Bender) Oliver in Rochester, Minnesota.
Kenneth grew up with his grandparents, William and Mildred Oliver, in Lake City. He graduated from Lincoln High School. Kenneth was drafted into the Army in 1944 and served during WWII. After being discharged, he returned to Lake City. Shortly thereafter he then enlisted into the Air Force. Kenneth married Donna Lamberg January 21, 1951 in Manhattan, Kansas. They traveled extensively throughout the world. In 1971, Kenneth retired from the Air Force and they moved back to Frontenac. Donna passed away in January of 2003.
Kenneth owned and operated the Audio Shop in Frontenac. He also worked as a projectionist in his early years. He married Virginia Ibaugh Scarth on March 14, 2004 in La Feria, Texas at the First Methodist Church.
Kenneth was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lake City, a Life Member of the Lake City VFW Post 8729 and served as emergency service coordinator for Goodhue County, Hiawatha Valley Amateur Radio Club, and Upper Midwest Snow Bird Group. He also became a licensed pilot in 1947.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Virginia Oliver of Frontenac; son, Donald (Eileen) of Pine Island; daughters, Cindy (Jeff) Larson of Lake City, Janet Brannick of Rochester, Paulette Simpson of Littlestown, Pennsylvania; and 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sonia (Wayne) Schacht of Rochester; and brothers, Bill (Vonne) Oliver of Lake City, Dale (Mary Jean) Oliver of Lake City.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Oliver; son, Alan Swanson; and three brothers, Keith, Raymond and Paul.
A Memorial Service will be Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Tim Ehling officiating. Burial will be at Frontenac Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church. Military Honors will be provided by Lake City VFW Post 8729 and American Legion Post 110.
