Kenneth Boraas, age 93, of Wanamingo died on Friday October 1, 2010 at Zumbrota Health Services.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1:30 PM on Wednesday October 6, 2010 at Minneola Lutheran Church in Goodhue with Pastor Sara Nietz officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Tuesday October 5 at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one our prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Kenneth Harold Boraas was born on January 23, 1917 in Belle Creek Township to Joseph and Mary (Nerison) Boraas. He graduated from the Husevold country school, District 92. He entered the United States Army on October 2, 1946. He rose to the rank of Military Policeman, serving with that 720th Military Police Battalion in Tokyo, Japan. Kenneth was honorably discharged from the Army in 1948. After being discharged, Kenneth began to farm with his dad. He married Ruth Hilan on May 22, 1954 at Minneola Lutheran Church. In 1967 he began to working for Goodhue County Dairy Herd Improvement Asociation as a field supervisor. He retired after 27 years in 1994. In 1987, Kenneth and Ruth moved to Wanamingo. They lived there until February of 2010 when they moved to the Bridges in Zumbrota. Kenneth enjoyed walking and sports, especially ski jumping, softball and watching the Twins. He loved laughing with his friends and family.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Ruth Boraas of Zumbrota; his son, David (Linda) Boraas of Goodhue; his daughter, Marjorie (Don) Shreve, of Charlottesville, VA; three grandchildren, Kelli Boraas, and Andrew and Heather Shreve. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joel Boraas; and his sister, Glenda Martin.
