Kenneth Frederick Bolland, 89, of Red Wing died Thursday at Fairview Seminary Home. He was born on July 4, 1971 in Red Wing to Fred and Emaline (Jablonski) Bolland. He attended Red Wing Schools and then the Youth Conservation Corps. He served in the US Army from July 15, 1941 to October 14, 1945 during World War II, stationed at Schofield Barracks at Pearl Harbor. He married Opal Bell on November 9, 1944 at Waynesville, Missouri. They returned to Red Wing where he worked as a counselor at the Red Wing Training School retiring in 1976. She died on March 7, 1976. On September 24, 1983 he was married to Marvel Dwyer. She died on November 5, 1997. He was a member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church, Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post 54, and Burnson-Lillyblad Post 1218, DAV, Pearl Harbor Survivors, Red Men Club and a past member of the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed playing pool and was on the Old-timers Pool league at the Red Men and also enjoyed playing euchre and fishing. Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Dennis) Harding of Red Wing and Judy Thuman of Goodhue; step-son, Donald Dwyer of Milwaukee, Wis.; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild; special friend, Mildred ?Tilly? Huddleston of Red Wing and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two wives and one brother, Donald. Private burial will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday with a 4 p.m. Legion prayer service at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Memorials are preferred to the church or Fairview Red Wing Hospice.
