Keith McCleary

Keith Harvey Mc Cleary, 86, of Red Wing, died Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Valentines in Red Wing. He was born in Maiden Rock, Wis., on January 17, 1926 to James and Helen (Harvey) McCleary. He graduated from Maiden Rock High School in 1943. After graduation he farmed for nine years until he was drafted into the US Army. He served during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. He married June Niebeling on October 4, 1952. After his discharge they moved to Red Wing where he worked for five years at Red Wing Milling Company until becoming employed with the City of Red Wing as a Superintendent of the Waste Water Treatment Plant. He retired in 1986 and then worked 11 years for Will-Do-Trucking. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Red Wing Fire Department for 20 years. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54 and the Burnson-Lillyblad VFW Post #1218. He enjoyed fishing, golf, woodworking, playing cards and bingo.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda (Leo) Neudecker of Plymouth and Patricia (Jim) Bushey of Red Wing; one son, Michael (Trudy) McCleary of Munds Park, Ariz.; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, June; one sister, Audrey Groom and one brother, Neal.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2012 at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Brian Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. , Thursday , February 23, 2012 with a Legion prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the services.
