Keith David Freeman, 61, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 27, 1959 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Merle and Beatrice (Holtzbauer) Freeman. He joined the Marines as soon as he was able and earned his GED during his service. In 1979, after 3 years, he was honorably discharged. In 1984 he married Kimberly Lindquist in Ellsworth, Wisconsin. Together the couple raised three children while living in the Hastings area. Eventually Keith moved to Red Wing to work at BIC.
Keith was a fun-loving family man and the life of every party. He knew how to make people feel welcome and was always up for a good time. He enjoyed having drinks on the water, whether on a boat or tubing down the Apple River. He liked sitting around a campfire and often took his family camping. In his later years, his grandkids became the center of his world. A big kid himself, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be missed by many, including his wife of 37 years, Kim; son, Chad Freeman; daughter, Candis Burton; and son, Daniel (Jodi) Burton; 10 grandkids; sisters, Tammy (Brian) Hennessey, Ty Koester, and Becky Freeman; brother, George Freeman; many nephews and several favorite nieces; lifelong bromance, Mark Richardson; father, Merle (Penny) Freeman; and many other friends and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his mom, Beatrice Freeman; dad, Ken Giossi; daughter-in-law, Kristie Freeman; bother in law, Bruce Lindquist; great nephew, Hunter; his grandparents; good friends and other family members.
A Celebration of Life was held prior to his death because Keith was not one to miss a good party. Online condolences may be left for his family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
