Kay L. Beder, 49, of Bay City, Wis., died Saturday, September 17, 2016, at her home, after an 18 year battle with cancer. She was born April 9, 1967, in Red Wing, to James and Shirley (Bartz) King. She grew up in Elmwood, Wisconsin and graduated from high school there in 1985. She attended the Red Wing Vo-tech and worked at K-Mart and later at MacTech. She was united in marriage to Steven Beder on July 15, 1995, and they made their home in Bay City. Together they had one son, Tyler. She worked as the Clerk Treasurer for the Village of Bay City from 1998-2012. She was very crafty and enjoyed doing at-home sales and parties with Stampin' Up and Jamberry Nails. She was also involved with the Bay City Community Enhancement Group, Pierce County Economic Development and had been a past Cub Scout and 4-H Leader. She enjoyed camping and traveling, especially to Disney World and Las Vegas. Most important to her was spending as much time as possible with her family.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Steven of Bay City; son, Tyler John of Bay City, who is attending Iowa State; her parents, James and Shirley King of Elmwood; 2 brothers, Kenneth (Shawnie) King of Pepin and Wallace (Sara) King of Spring Valley; 1 sister, Cynthia (Daniel) Kern of Bay City; 7 nieces and nephews; a great-niece and nephew and many aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and father-in-law.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing with Rev. Bill Bradley officiating. Burial will be at Bay City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday and for one hour prior to the service.
