Kathleen Rae Edwards

Kathleen Rae Edwards, 91, of Red Wing, Minn. passed away peacefully at her home in Elmhurst, Ill. She was born April 14, 1927 to Raymond and Kathryn (Gradel) Mierka in Dayton, Ohio. She attended Roosevelt High School before she went on to Ohio State University where she met her husband, Walter Edwards. They were married on March 3, 1951. While Walter finished a masters degree Kathleen worked as a school teacher. The couple would make their home in Columbus, Ohio before moving to Pennsylvania and finally settling in Red Wing, Minnesota. Kathleen was a devoted member of Hiawatha Valley Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, mystery novels and going out to eat with family and friends.

She is survived by her three children; Melanie (Ken) Peters, Mark (Cindy) Edwards and Melissa (Tom) Kirkland; six grandchildren, Erin (Jeff Rostis) Peters, Amy (Joey) Lichon, Adam (Rachel Mason) Peters, Ben Kirkland, Megan (Andrew) Rowland, Katie (Andrew) Argyilan; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Gabriel, Asher, Nicholas and James; and many other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter and an infant sister, Naomi.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Hiawatha Valley Baptist Church in Red Wing. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., January 25, 2019 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at church. Burial at Burnside Cemetery.
