Katherine Lee Adams

Katherine Lee Adams, age 63, of Red Wing died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born on June 26, 1951 in Red Wing to George and Dyllis (Bakke) Gunter. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School and went on to attend Winona State University. On July 13, 1974 Kathy was married to Bob Adams at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Red Wing. A month after their marriage, the couple moved to Guam where she worked as a physical education teacher. They moved to Montana in 1976, where they then lived for 19 years and Kathy worked as a substitute teacher and a certified nursing assistant. Bob and Kathy returned to Red Wing in 1996 to be closer to family. She worked at the Red Wing Health Center for many years as a certified nursing assistant. Kathy was very competitive, loved sports, spending time with her grandkids, and sitting by the river.

She is survived by her husband, Bob; two daughters, Cara Adams and Christine (Karl) Bakke, both of Red Wing; two grandchildren, Mattie and Henry Bakke; and two sisters, Laura (Tom) Johnson of Houston, TX, and Barb (Kelvin) Voth of Red Wing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and an aunt and uncle.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association.
