Karen Etheridge

May 12, 1947 — April 8, 2025

Karen Joy Etheridge, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, April 8, 2025 in her apartment at the Downtown Plaza in Red Wing. She was born on May 12, 1947 to Albert and Esther (Ortloff) Myhrer. Karen and her siblings moved a few times due to her mom and dad being ministers. Eventually they settled in Red Wing and Karen graduated from High School. She went on to study at the North Central Bible College, after graduation she moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was a counsellor at Teen Challenge, where she met her future husband, John Etheridge. The two were united in marriage on September 10, 1971, and moved to Missouri, and Japan because of John’s teaching career. They moved to McAllen, TX. Karen was involved in the Church they attended in the Music Ministry, and she played piano. After John’s passing in 2017, Karen moved back to Red Wing to be closer to her beloved sisters. She moved into the Downtown Plaza and began forging friendships with some of the ladies. She attended a Bible study in the Building led by Pastor Lowell Sorenson from Hay Creek Immanuel Lutheran Church and felt that she was part of their church. Her friends and neighbors at the Plaza became somewhat of a second family to Karen, she loved to go to the “Meet and Greet New Members” whether they were on her floor or not. She loved going to the Monthly Birthday Parties on the 9th floor, and when they had pizza, or other food. She loved sitting downstairs and chatting!

Karen will be dearly missed by her siblings, Keith Myhrer of Las Vegas, and Nancy (Dennis) of Ellsworth; nieces, Melody, Angela, and Deanna; nephew, Aaron; many great nieces and nephews; and great-great nephews! And she will be missed by many friends!

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John; sisters, Laurel “Lolly” Jennings, and Estelle Myhrer, and Rosie Myhrer; brother, Terrance “Terry” Myhrer; Nephew, Michael Jennings; and her parents.

Service Times Pending. Arrangements handled through Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
