Karen Lynn Bluske

December 2, 1956 — May 30, 2017

Karen Lynn Bluske, of Frontenac, passed away on May 30, 2017 at the age of 60, having battled POEMS syndrome with strength and resiliency for the last three years. She was amongst family at the Mayo Clinic care center in Lake City upon her passing, displaying courage until the end.

Karen was born on December 2, 1956 to Walter and Phyllis Wuttke in La Crosse, WI. After graduating from Luther High School in Onalaska, Wisconsin, in 1975, Karen met her husband Bryan and travelled the country with their son Geoff. They settled down in the Midwest and had their daughter Krista in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and eventually moved to Red Wing, Minnesota. She took a position with Star Realty/Siewert Construction as an office manager and later became a realtor for the company.

In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, encircling her and Bryan's home with a wide array of colorful flowers and a garden that produced a bounty of vegetables. She and her husband would take many trips to Mexico with friends, spending time relaxing on the beach. She was a devoted Packers fan, sometimes cheering with such volume people down the street would take notice.

Karen was a strong voice of guidance to her family, providing the moral structure that would form their lives. Yet she always allowed her children to follow their own passions in life and was an avid supporter of their creative, athletic, scientific, and artistic endeavors. The impact she had is not only felt on those close to her, but will be passed on to further generations.

Shortly before her passing, Karen became a grandmother to Sydney, born to her daughter Krista Bluske and son-in-law Drew Bluske. Being able to meet her granddaughter in her final days brought a smile to Karen's face.

She is survived by her husband Bryan Bluske of Frontenac; daughter Krista (Drew) Bluske of San Diego, Calif.; son Geoffrey Bluske of Lake City; parents Walter and Phyllis Wuttke of La Crosse; brother Dave (Toni) Wuttke of Holman; sister Diane (Randy) Ottery of Onalaska, and granddaughter Sydney Bluske.
