June S. Ritter, 89, of Red Wing, died Monday, August 23, 2010 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born December 18, 1920 in Westby, Wisconsin to Melvin and Alma (Anderson) Stafslien. She graduated from Westby High School in 1939 and from Vernon County Normal School in 1942. She taught one year of country school. On June 10, 1943 she married Theodore Ritter. The couple lived in LaCrosse and Milwaukee before moving to Owatonna in 1954. In 1967 they moved to Glencoe and later retired in Red Wing in 1987. Theodore died July 20, 1993. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. In the 1970's June served as Chairperson of the Glencoe School Board. She was an active volunteer, donating her time to her church, especially her church in Glencoe, served as a hospice volunteer, and volunteered with the Sheldon Theatre. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and traveling. She was especially proud of her Norwegian heritage, traveling to Norway with her nieces and nephews to visit the family homesteads.

She is survived by two sons, Doug (Mona) of Red Wing and Steve (Sharon) of Plymouth; daughter, June (Kevin) Krebsbach of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren, David, Melissa, Stephanie, Kathleen, Andrew, Jacob, and Nathan Ritter and Jennifer and Philip Krebsbach; sister, Beverly (Jim) Johnson of Chaseburg, Wisconsin; brother, Philip (Glynne) Stafslien of Janesville, Wisconsin; special niece, Vicki Misner of San Diego, California, and many other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodore; son, Kenneth; four brothers, and three sisters.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at First Lutheran Church in Red Wing, with Reverend Dave Jore officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the church, St. Brigid's at Hi-Park Foundation and Fairview
Red Wing Hospice.
