Julia M. Miller age 85 of Lake City passed away January 16, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Julia was born February 18, 1924 in Bancroft, IA to William & Wanda (Storms) Doocy. She married Paul Miller January 2, 1947 in Bancroft, IA. After they were married they farmed in the Algona & Burt area for 14 years. In 1956 they moved to the Lake City area where they continued farming. She also worked at the Lake City Coat Factory, Jewell Nursery, RWI in Red Wing and Pace Dairy in Rochester from which she retired from in 1987. In 1960 they moved to Lake City. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake City, the Lake City VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, cross word puzzles, and most of all spending time with her family.
Julia is survived by her husband, Paul; two daughters Carol (Joe) VanHouten of Lake City, Janet (Donald) Bade of Frontenac; two sons, Gerald (Dorie) Miller of Lake City, John (Judy) Miller of Apple Valley; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; one sister, Rose Ellen (Harley) Hoeck of Montclair, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Janet Doocy.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 11:00 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City with Father Richard Dernek officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the funeral home.
