Judith Ann Ortwerth, 71, Hager City, died Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at United Hospital in St. Paul. She was born November 17, 1939 in Elgin, IL, the daughter of Darby and Nancy Stephan. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1957. She married James Ortwerth on August 7, 1965 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Wing. They lived in Ellsworth, and then moved to Hager City in 1970 where they ran Mary's Supper Club on Trenton Island. James died September 9, 1995. She was currently employed by the Pierce County Sheriff Department as a bailiff. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Judy is survived by her children: Nancy (Jason) Hove of Plum City, Wendy (Aaron) Bongle of Algoma, WI, Heidi (Edward) Caya of Hutchinson, MN and Christopher (Kristen) Ortwerth of Hastings; grandchildren: Maxwell, Joseph and Cassidy Caya, Cody and McKenzie Ortwerth; additional family: Kathy, Caressa, Cordero, and Charity Weber; her step-mother, Jane Stephan; many step-brothers and step-sisters; many other wonderful family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; and one brother, Jack Stephan.

Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the Church of Saint Joseph, Red Wing, with Father Thomas Kommers presiding. A private family burial will be at Trenton Cemetery a later date. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and on Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
