Judy Dianne Hammes, 58, of Red Wing, died on Thursday, November 28, 2019, at the Lake City Care Center. She was born in DeKalb, Illinois on May 5, 1961, to Robert and Patsy Jo (Broadhurst) Finley. She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1979, attended Minnesota State University Moorhead, and graduated from the College of St. Teresa in 1983. After college, she worked various social work jobs. Judy was united in marriage to Stephen Hammes in St. Charles in 1994. The two had one son, Andy, in 1997. She spent 10 years working for the Red Wing School District as a special education paraeducator. Judy was kind-hearted and loved spending time with her family and friends, was an avid reader, and loved animals. She volunteered at Burnside Elementary and at the Humane Society, among others.
She is survived by her husband, Steve; son, Andy Hammes; step-daughter, Karen (Zac) Perkins; step-grandchildren, Gabe and Olivia; siblings, Joe (Lynette) Finley, Mike (Kassie) Finley, Steve (Joann) Finley, Jeanne (Alex) Wilson, Trish Finley, David Finley, and Beck (Mike) Ireland; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her fur babies, Bailey and Muffin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Angie Finley.
