Joyce Wheeler
Joyce Wheeler, age 80, of Brainerd, passed away Saturday, April 07, 2012 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. She was born on April 17, 1931 in Lake City to Walter and Lenora (Michaelsen) Prigge. She grew up in Lake City and graduated from Lincoln High School. After school she moved to Minneapolis, where she worked in a bank. She married Wayne Wheeler and they later divorced. She moved to Illinois and then moved back to Lake City in the late 90's to help take care of her mother, and worked at Jostens in Red Wing until retiring. She later moved up to the Brainerd area to be closer to family. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. Joyce enjoyed traveling, singing, dancing, watching sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Toni Wise of Gothenburg, NE, Terry Wheeler of Lake City, Todd Wheeler of Aitkin, MN, Tina (Rusty) Linn of Brainerd, Tanya (Clarence) East of Bellevue, IL, and Ted Wheeler of Littleton, CO; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lenora; brother, Ron Prigge; granddaughter, Jennifer Toal.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Daniel Kroll officiating. Burial will take place at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
