OBITUARY: Joyce O. Morseth

Funeral service for Joyce Morseth will be at 11AM on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Lands Lutheran Church, 16640 Highway 60 Blvd., Zumbrota with Reverend David Krinke officiating. Burial will follow at Lands Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Goodhue County Food Shelf or to the charity of one's choice.

Joyce, age 87, of Wanamingo and formerly Zumbrota, died on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She was born Joyce Orris Ellefson on August 28, 1921 in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County to Ole and Josephine (nee Johnson) Ellefson. She attended rural country school in Roscoe Township and worked for the Zumbrota Hotel. On June 21, 1941, Joyce married Alfred Morseth at the Lands Lutheran Church parsonage. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Zumbrota before they started farming around the area eventually purchasing their farm south of Pine Island and farmed for over 33 years. In addition to farming, Joyce worked as a volunteer at Pine Haven Care Center. She did this over 30 years as well as was a lifetime member of Lands Lutheran Church. She was active in the ladies circles and auxiliaries as well as a teacher in Sunday school for over 35 years. She worked with the Dodge County Extension Group and was a 4-H leader. She loved to can and bake as proof of many blue ribbons earned at the Dodge County and Goodhue County Fairs.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Alfred, of Wanamingo; four children: Marlys Sherbel and Harold (Pam) Morseth, all of Coon Rapids, MN, Bonnie (Stan) Broton, of Dodge Center and Mary (Myron) Ehrich, of West Concord; four grandchildren: Darin and Erin Borton, Kari (David) Echtenkamp and Kristi (Jeffery) Stradtmann; three great-grandchildren: Dylan and Madelyn Echtenkamp and Logan Stradtmann. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Josephine; five brothers: Martin, Herman, Gilman, Orrin and Lyle and two sisters: Lillian and Margaret.

Visitation will be from 5-8PM on Tuesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
