Joyce Frances Mohn

Joyce Frances Mohn, age 84 of Red Wing, died April 28, 2013 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born Sept. 9, 1928 in Red Wing, MN to Ludwig and Elvera (Manfred) Anderson. She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1946 and then worked at Citizen's Fund Insurance Company. On September 6, 1952, she married John Mohn at First Lutheran Church in Red Wing and for many years, they lived on a farm in Wells Creek. Joyce had taken gardening courses through Sargent's Nursery and had become a master gardener, something she very much enjoyed. She was also active in the Hay Creek 4-H Club when her children were growing up and had been very active at First Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and in various church circles. In 1968 they moved to a farm in Flower Valley. John died on Sept. 29, 2002 and Joyce continued to live on their farm until August of 2007, when she moved to St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. Joyce was a great cook and she enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by 3 sons, Frederick (Cheryl) Mohn of Lake City, David (Mary) Mohn of Woodbury and Thomas Mohn of Red Wing; 6 granddaughters; 1 great-granddaughter and 1 great-grandson; 2 sisters, Edith (Kenneth) Hoffman of Lake City and Darlene Hagen of Farmington and 1 brother, Lloyd (Nellie) Anderson of Bay City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Brian Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Casketbearers will be her nephews, Wayne, Jerry, Bruce and Doug Torseth and Greg and Richard Anderson. Honorary casketbearers will be her granddaughters, Julia (Mark) Brunner, Sarah, Laura, Elise, Kelly and Rebecca Mohn. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to St. Brigid's at Hi-Park's Healing Garden Fund. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
