Joyce Marilyn Anderson, 84, of Red Wing, died Saturday, February 22, 2014, at the Seminary Home. She was born December 27, 1929, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, to Edward and Inga (Larson) Severson. As an infant her family moved to Red Wing. She graduated in 1947 from Red Wing Central High. She went on to attend the Minneapolis School of Arts. On June 13, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert "Rivet" Anderson and they lived in Red Wing. Joyce was a gifted local artist and an avid golfer. She was a member of United Lutheran Church, Red Wing Arts Association, Red Wing Collectors Society and the Lauris Norstad Sons of Norway.
She is survived by 3 children, Barbara (Douglas) Wilson of Thornton, Colorado, Bryce (Patricia) of Centennial, Colorado and Bret of Minneapolis; five grandchildren, Jackie Boettcher, Emilie Dailey, Sean Haffenden, Edward Haffenden and Sarah Carter; nine great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Lorraine (Maurice) VanGilder of Red Wing and a sister-in-law, Meredith Severson of Red Wing.
She was preceded in death by her husband; 2 sisters, Ione Severson and Gladys Lane and a brother, Edward Severson.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. A visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 14, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the church.
