Joyce Hazel Hegseth was born on January 23, 1918 in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County, MN to Peter and Josephine (nee Johnson) Hegseth. She attended Bringgold School. In 1932 she graduated from Goodhue County District 82 Roscoe Township School. Joyce helped neighbors and friends with housework and when children were born. Joyce also did housework for the Marsh family in Pine Island. Joyce was married in December of 1939 and they were blessed with three daughters. Joyce worked at Waters Connolly for seven years and at the Zumbrota Nursing Home for twenty one years as a housekeeper. During this time Joyce also cared for her aging mother.
Joyce had a great love for Jesus and the Bible for which it stands.
Joyce loved being outdoors working in her vegetable and flower gardens and doing chores around the farm. In her later years, Joyce loved having her grandchildren visit. Dandelion and thistle pulling were some of the tasks she gave them to earn some pennies. Joyce also loved to embroider pillowcases, dish towels and scarfs, which she gave away.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Gloria Harper of Rochester, Janice (Alvin) Bruce and Patricia (James) Stubbs, both of Pine Island; grandchildren, Cindy (Jim) Canaday, Ricky (Tinia Moulder) Spaulding, Becky (Dave) Swanson, Peggy (Jim) Ulwelling, Gary Spaulding and friend Jeana Lessa, Thomas Harper and friend Susan David, Kevin Bruce, Julie (Matt) Blesi, Ronald Harper, Denelle (DuWayne) Knobloch and Cynthia (Iria) Morressette; twelve great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great-grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her grandson, Jeffrey Harper and siblings, Oscar, Obert, Ella, Johnnie & Phillip Hegseth and Otillda Nyberg.
