Joyce Marie Anderson, 83, of Red Wing, died on Thursday, December 26, 2019, at Valentine's Assisted Living, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 5, 1936, in Red Wing, to Clarence "Mike" and Gladys (Swanson) Gielow. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She attended Burnside Elementary School and Red Wing Central High School. She was united in marriage to Donald Alfred Anderson on October 24, 1952, in Mason City, Iowa. They lived in Red Wing and the Burnside area until 1975, when they moved to Welch. She attended the Red Wing Vo-Tech majoring in business courses. She worked at Riedell Shoes, in the factory and then as Personnel Director. She attended Normandale Community College and received her Realtor's license. She worked at Century 21 and Lawrence Realty. She later worked for Xcel Energy for 15 years in Business Support & Records Management before retiring in 2002. Joyce served as President of the Red Wing Realtors and on the State Board of Realtors. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, making porcelain dolls, teddy bears, painting watercolor pictures, fishing, and traveling. She visited Sweden and Norway several times, toured England and many European countries, but recalled Hawaii and Captiva Island as her favorites.
She is survived by her six children, Kristy (Dave) Hagner of Burnsville, Terry (Desmond) Sande, Scott (LuAnn) Anderson, Kim (Haven) Hadler, and Lori Anderson all of Red Wing, and Donald Anderson, Jr. of Edina; 15 grandchildren, Nikole (Dan) Stolfa, Angela (Pat) O'Neill, Katie Bohmbach, Alison (Brandon) Ganser, Jayme (Riley) Bosch, Bethany (Caleb) Harstad, Emily (Travis) Lecheler, Michelle (Ken) Rene, Scott Ross Anderson, Alyssa Copley, Carrie (Cassie) Bollum, Sam Hadler, Amy (Chris) Staloch, Jenny Plath, and Maggie (Zach) Sloan; and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents; sister, Donna Henschel; and one grandson, Joshua Bohmbach.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Dana Jackson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2019 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Burial will be at Burnside Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Goodhue County Historical Society. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
