Joseph M. Rude age 69 of Pine Island, formerly of Zumbrota died on Monday, July 13, 2009 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday July 20, 2009 at 11 AM at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Paul Reppe officiating.Visitation will one hour prior to the service at the church.
Joseph Melvin Rude was born on May 26, 1940 in Zumbrota, MN to Emil and Margaret (nee Ellefson) Rude. He grew up on the family farm in Roscoe Township. He attended country school in Roscoe Center through the eighth grade, then Zumbrota High School and Hillcrest Academy in Fergus Falls for his sophomore year. He graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1958. On February 8, 1958 he married his high school sweetheart, Janice Miller. Joe worked as an over the road trucker for many years. In 1979 he started selling for Nord Implement in Zumbrota and worked there until it closed. He also farmed part time while trucking and selling machinery. After he retired he worked as a delivery person for NAPA. He enjoyed outdoor cooking, fishing and hunting with his buddies, NASCAR, gardening and spending time with his wife Janice, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren. Joe was a member of Lands Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Janice and their beloved dog, Tucker; two daughters, Teresa (Doug) Carlson of Pine Island and Jodie (Brian) Thompson of Zumbrota; six grandchildren, Katrina (TJ) Burns, Gretchen (Andrew) Trimble, Joseph Carlson, Jerod (Carley Huss), Haley and Jordan Thompson; two great grandchildren, Marin Burns and Jaymin Thompson and two brothers; Daniel (Connie) Rude of Zumbrota and LeRoy Rude of Pine Island. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lyndon Rude.

Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.
