Joseph L. Mireau

Joseph Leo Mireau, 81, of Prairie Island, died Monday, August 10, 2020, at the Tinta Winta Tipi Senior Living Facility. He was born on August 1, 1939, in Sisseton, South Dakota and graduated from Sisseton High School. He served in the US Army for four years. He worked at Treasure Island and Con Agra for many years. He was an Episcopalian lay reader and a fluent Dakota speaker. He enjoyed Indian dancing and traveling to powwows, as well as bowling, fishing, traveling and cooking.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Vivian Mireau; two children, Benjamin and Lydia; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2020 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Funeral Home, with Rev. Marty Balf officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alan Childs, Jr., Dennis Bennet, Brian Childs, Art White, Donald Whitebear and Mikhail Childs.
