Joseph E. McCusker, age 88, of Red Wing, died Monday, August 25, 2008, at Fairview Seminary Home. He was born on December 7, 1919, in Trimbelle Township, Wisconsin, to William and Lucille (Floody) McCusker. He attended rural school. He served two tours of duty in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Ruth Lubach on May 21, 1951, at the Catholic Church in Mannheim, Germany. They returned to the states, where he began farming with his uncle. After several years, they moved to Red Wing where he worked for Central Soya Grain Elevator. He retired in 1981. He was a member of the Church of St. Joseph and enjoyed traveling, dancing and nature.
Survivors include his wife Ruth of Red Wing; son Peter of Medford, Oregon, many nieces, nephews and good friends. Preceding him in death were his sister Thelma Buckner and brother Myron.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Pastoral Minister Dar Reeck officiating. Burial will be in Burnside Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of services Friday at the funeral home.
