Joseph F. Marx, age 89 of Mazeppa died on Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Zumbrota Health Services where he had resided for the past two months. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa with Father Joe Fogal officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday for one hour prior to the mass at the church.
Joseph Francis Marx was born on December 12, 1925 on the family farm in Pine Island Township, Goodhue County, MN to Peter and Theresa (nee Schurb) Marx. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Mazeppa. In 1943 he graduated from Mazeppa High School and started farming with his parents. On September 10, 1952 he married Lucille Hofschulte at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa. They made their home on the Marx family farm. Lucille died on March 20, 1974 and Joe continued his farming career and remained on the farm until entering the Zumbrota Health Services on May 27, 2015. Joe was a lifelong member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
Joe is survived by his children, William (Candy) Marx of Mazeppa, Elizabeth "Betty" Campbell and her friend Don Stahman of Mazeppa, Michael (Peggy) Marx of Rochester and James Marx of Mazeppa; grandchildren, Aaron (Sophorn) Campbell of Pine Island, Jared (Tracy) Campbell of Redlands, CA and Maria (Ryan) Lodermeier of Zumbrota; great-grandchildren, Sonara Campbell, Riley Campbell, Hannah Campbell, Caden Lodermeier and Keagan Lodermeier.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille and sisters, Cecelia Lafleur and Monica Schmitt.
Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.
