Joseph J. Cliff
Joseph Joyce Cliff, 81, of Lake City died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Wabasha. He was born November 7, 1927 in Zumbro Falls to Kinney and Frances (Keeley) Cliff. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1945. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy. On December 21, 1947 he married Helen Rauchman in Jacksonville, FL. After being honorably discharged in 1948 the couple moved to Lake City. He worked for Gillete and Eaton starting on the production line and eventually being promoted to industrial engineer. After 41 years of work he retired. He was a volunteer fireman for the Lake City Fire Dept. He was a member of St. Mary of The Lake Catholic Church in Lake City and the Lake City Country Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Lake City; son, Bob (Nancy) Cliff of Lake City; daughter, Cathy (Ron) Kirkeby of Winona; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two brothers Donald and Thomas Cliff.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 5, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Richard Dernek officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City with a Rosary Service at 6:30p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church Thursday.
