Joseph Carl Andrist

Joseph C. Andrist, age 78, passed away surrounded by family in Eagan, Minnesota on May 22, 2020, after a battle with Alzheimer's. Joe was born March 2, 1942, in New Haven Township to Myrtie and Otto Andrist. He attended school in Pine Island. Married Marietta Cochico, a nurse from the Philippines on June 22, 1964. They had a daughter and son and were lifelong residents of Rochester. Joe was talkative and friendly, a kidder with anyone who crossed his path, and would often share a beer. Joe worked at Seneca Foods as a purchasing agent. He ushered part-time at the Mayo Civic Auditorium. His pastimes were fishing, camping with family and friends, playing cards, collecting things, and an avid Vikings and Twins fan. Joe enjoyed cruises and traveling to the Philippines, New York, Colorado, the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii and other places. Joe was truly a good husband, dad and grandpa. A grandson said we love you, Papa, to the moon and back. Joe will be missed and his voice will echo on. Preceded in death by his parents, and the parents that raised him, Virginia and Joseph Elias; brothers, Ronald, Otto, Jr., Arland and half sister Shirley. Joe is survived by his wife, Marietta; daughter, Angela Andrist (Peggy Soma) of Eagan; son Anthony Andrist of Colorado; grandchildren, Berkeley, Canyon, Davan and Becklin; his 10 siblings and other relatives. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday July 15, 2021 at Pine Island Cemetery (542 East Center Drive) with Father Russ Scepaniak officiating.
