Jon D. Ofstie, age 70 of Zumbrota died peacefully on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Zumbrota Health Services after a long battle with Huntington's disease. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Susan Vikstrom officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Private family burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery.

Jon David Ofstie was born on January 16, 1942 in Red Wing, MN to Joel and Mamie (nee Benson) Ofstie. He attended grade school in Wanamingo and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1960. On June 10, 1966 he married Jeanne Stoddard. They made their home in Burnsville, MN, where they raised three children. Jon was a well-loved car salesman and sold Toyotas in Bloomington, MN for over twenty years. He spent most of his free time with his family, friends and boating on the river. Jon was a longtime member of the Sons of Norway in Minneapolis, MN and an avid member and secretary of the Norske Torske Klubben of St. Paul, MN. After Jon was diagnosed with Huntington's disease, he and Jeanne moved back to Zumbrota. He was a wonderful and loving husband and father, who brought much joy, laughter and love to all that knew him.

Jon is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanne, sons, Matthew (Angie) Ofstie of Shakopee, Mark (Tracey) Ofstie of Zumbrota; daughter, Mali (Seth) Nareff of Farmington; dear grandchildren, Dillon Ofstie, Madison Ofstie, Sawyer Nareff and Eleanor Nareff; sister, Mary Lou McHugh of Scottsdale, AZ; brother, Joel Ofstie of Haycreek; mother-in-law, Dora Stoddard of Zumbrota and many other wonderful friends and family.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Mamie Ofstie; brothers-in-law, Donald McHugh and Steven Stoddard; sister-in-law, Ruth Ofstie and father-in-law, Merle Stoddard.
