John H. Zimmermann age 49 of Zumbrota died on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.
John Henry Zimmermann was born on December 4, 1961 in Zumbrota to Myron and Mary (nee Kalass) Zimmermann. He grew up in rural Zumbrota, attended Zumbrota schools and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1980. John graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo in 1986. In 1987 he started teaching Agriculture at Wanamingo High School, which became Kenyon-Wanamingo High School. He also taught at Lake City High School. John enjoyed running and ran in many marathons, both at the local level and also in larger marathons. He also enjoyed coaching basketball and track. John helped a group of Lake City high school students operate a truck gardening business. John is survived by his mother, Mary Zimmermann of Lakeville; sister, Stacey (Jason) Rudoy of Burnsville; brother, Bill (Leana) Zimmermann of Red Wing; special friends, Bruce and Cherie Heydmann and their children Philip, Molly and Nikki; aunts, uncles and many cousins. John was preceded in death by his father, Myron Zimmermann. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred.
