John A. Wall, age 77, of Lake City, died Saturday March 4, 2006 at the Lake City Nursing Home. John was born November 6, 1928 in Ann Arbor, MI. He graduated from Dexter High School in 1946. He Entered the Army in 1946 and served during WW II and was discharged in 1948. After he was discharged, he attended Niagara University in Niagara, New York. He graduated with a Bachelors of Arts Degree. He worked at the Ford Motor Plant for a short time before he became a pilot. He then worked as a pilot for North Central Airlines in Michigan. He married Roberta Apitz May 2, 1964 at St. Malachy?s Catholic Church in Clontarf, MN. They lived in St. Paul were John was a pilot for Republic Air Lines for 29 years. They moved to Lake City in 1975. He retired from Republic Air Lines in 1986. Roberta died January 10, 2000. John was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Lake City, he also taught confirmation at St. Mary?s for over 20 years. John was selected as Southern Minnesota Tree Farmer of the Year in 2002. John is survived by one son Patrick (Lisa) of Costa Mesa, CA, one daughter Kathleen (Brian) Wernecke of Rochester; one granddaughter Erin Wall. John was preceded by his wife one sister Dorothy Moorman and one brother William Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Lake City with Father James Russell officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. There will be a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church.
